Johanna Hunt

I was born in Cali, Colombia, this is a big city in southwest Colombia. I have a degree in Economics from the University of San Buenaventura. My thesis was based on “Value Added in Companies” and my paper was recognized as the best in that year’s class.
My experience began in Finance and Accounting, where I had the opportunity to work for an important firm in my country. For 5 years I worked with the Financial Planning team that collaborated with personnel from Mexico, Central America, and other South American countries. We prepared Income Statements, quarterly Financial Projections, and annual Financial Budgets, for the presentation to the stakeholders of the company.

I decided to move to the commercial marketing side of business so I could further learn the world of business. This gave me the opportunity to learn negotiation and pricing, along with working with the teams to achieve production and sales goals.

I moved to Orlando, Fl in 2013 to be closer to my mother. This transition was new and not easy, as the change from Colombia to the United States is difficult. There is a language barrier and the reality of not knowing anyone is a new concept. I started by working at Disney in the merchandise stores and at coffee shops. I kept pushing my resume out into the business world and landed an opportunity with a large company.

It took 5 years, but I was able to finally put my degree back to use and start to learn how things worked in the USA. This was a major Civil contractor where I was able to learn more than I could imagine. Not only did I learn the industry, but I learned the opportunities the construction gives so many people from different backgrounds.

 

Since 2018 I have been able to learn and grow, and part of that growth is seeing the vast opportunity in the construction world for Hispanic and Latino companies. I have created Avanza Services to help provide those companies with a way to grow in the industry and help make sure that payments are protected and received. I am sure that with my experience and knowledge of the dynamics of contracting companies, Avanza Services will be your ally to guide you in the process of sending and receiving your payments. Our goal is making this process easier and clearer for the customer/contractor and therefore the payment reaches your hands without delay.

It is a priority that more companies, from the Hispanic and Latino community, know the importance and the need to notify the owners of construction projects of your participation in the work, service or sale of materials to other companies in the different Projects. This gives you: 1) Visibility and 2) Secure your payment.

The Mission of Avanza Services is to be able to reach more Spanish-speaking companies that are not aware of the NTOs or Notifications to the owners of construction projects, to share this extremely valuable information and invite them to make use of this powerful tool that Avanza Services offers. In the same way, present all the help regarding the payment process and compliance with all the required documentation. Thus, you can concentrate on the operation to grow your business.
